Kuralu Too

Enjoy a private sailing vacation aboard the 36-foot Aventura Power Catamaran, Kuralu Too. With ample shade, a spacious boarding ladder, a washroom, and a freshwater shower, it’s the perfect vessel to explore Norman, Peter, and Cooper Islands; Virgin Gorda; and Jost Van Dyke for stunning snorkeling destinations.

Day Dream

Join our public sailing trips aboard Day Dream, a Leopard 43-foot Sailing Catamaran with shade, an onboard washroom, and easy water access.

This spacious boat can make trips to Salt, Cooper, Peter, and Norman Islands, the Caves in Norman Island, the Indians, and the Baths in Virgin Gorda. It is currently docked in Road Town, conveniently located less than a 10-minute walk from the cruise ship pier.

Meet the Crew

Captain Ryan

From a young age he grew up in South Africa being in and around boats and water all his life. Fishing, wakeboarding, and diving were few of the activities he loved growing up. He then became a Diving Instructor and a Skipper/Capt on the East Coast of South Africa with many years experience and working in exotic locations such as Egypt,Zanzibar,Mozambique and Madagascar.

Now based in the BVI, Ryan loves sharing his passion and knowledge with guests — whether that’s exploring the underwater world as a dive instructor, sailing from island to island, or simply having fun on the water. He recently worked on a 105ft Trimaran that sailed around the BVI.

Now working as our Captain on the sailing catamaran Day Dream.

Captain J

J Holt first arrived in the BVI in the late ‘90s and got to know the islands while running 50’ sailboats. He spent the next decade living and working on the water- crewing on private yachts up and down the US east coast, sailing his own boat from California to New York, and returning to the BVI for winters while serving as captain of the 64’ Hinckley ketch, “Wyntje”.

After a land-based stretch back in the states working on day charter and ferry boats in Maine and producing public radio in Connecticut, J moved to the BVI with his family and is now a captain with Kuralu Catamaran Charters. He is thrilled to be able to share his love of these islands and waters with our guests.

1st Mate Nora

Nora is originally from Minnesota, where she grew up sailing on the many lakes throughout the state. Her passion for sailing quickly grew, leading her to begin teaching both kids and adults how to sail—and eventually bringing her to the BVI a few years ago.

While her sailing roots are in freshwater, she quickly fell in love with the warm waters and beauty of the Caribbean Sea. For the past four years, Nora has been teaching teens to sail and working with local organizations throughout the BVI.

She’s passionate about sailing, the islands, and sharing the unique beauty of the BVI—and can’t wait to welcome guests from near and far.

Gary

In 1993, Gary Cottreau sailed from his birthplace in Nova Scotia to the British Virgin Islands, where he worked as a boat charter captain in Tortola for a few years. He then operated a private yacht, allowing him to travel throughout the US, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and South America.

In 2008, Gary and his wife Clare bought Kuralu Catamaran Charters, and he has been entertaining guests on wonderful day sails ever since. Occasionally, his children might be your crew for the day if you are lucky!
